By using GearCheck Lab, you agree to use the site lawfully and responsibly. You may run the public diagnostics for personal, educational, troubleshooting or evaluation purposes. You remain responsible for decisions you make based on the results.
If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the site.
GearCheck Lab reports information available through browser APIs and visual/audio test patterns. Results can be influenced by browsers, drivers, firmware, operating systems, wireless connections, device mappings, settings and other software layers.
A browser result is not automatically a hardware fault diagnosis, warranty determination or manufacturer-approved calibration result.
The site does not physically repair hardware and does not guarantee that a device is safe, reliable or free from defects. If a device presents a physical safety concern—such as overheating, swelling, exposed wiring, burning smell or electrical damage—stop using it and seek appropriate professional or manufacturer guidance instead of relying on a browser test.
Audio-output tests can generate audible tones. Start at a comfortable volume and stop if playback is uncomfortable. Camera and microphone tools require browser permission and are intended for local diagnostics.
You are responsible for choosing whether to grant device permissions on your computer or mobile device.
GearCheck Lab is provided on an “as available” basis. While the project aims to keep tools functional and explanations accurate, no guarantee is made that every tool will be available, error-free, compatible with every device or suitable for a particular purpose.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or protections that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, GearCheck Lab is not responsible for losses caused by relying on a browser diagnostic as a substitute for manufacturer support, professional measurement, repair assessment or other appropriate verification.
Always back up important settings or data before making system-level changes based on troubleshooting advice from any source.
The site can link to third-party services such as hosting providers, browser documentation, manufacturers or the public project issue tracker. GearCheck Lab does not control those external services and their own terms and privacy practices apply when you use them.
Do not attempt to use GearCheck Lab to disrupt the site, bypass security controls, abuse infrastructure, distribute malicious code or interfere with other users. Automated access should respect reasonable technical limits and public site rules.
Site text, branding, design and source code may be protected by intellectual-property rights or open-source license terms where applicable. The presence of publicly viewable source code does not automatically grant rights beyond the license attached to that code or content.
Third-party libraries retain their own license terms.
Tools, routes, explanations, thresholds and policies can change as browser APIs, device behavior and the project evolve. Features may be added, modified or removed. Material policy changes should be reflected by updating the date and wording on the relevant page.
