Headphone Channel Balance Comparison
Listen to short left and right test tones and compare perceived balance using the same headphones and volume setting.
How to use this tool
- Set a low comfortable system volume before starting.
- Choose Left, Right or Both and start a five-second tone.
- Reduce a channel with its attenuation slider to compare perceived balance.
- Stop before adjusting cables or trying another device.
Read the result correctly
The page generates the same nominal 440 Hz signal for each chosen channel. Attenuation controls can reduce each digital channel from the initial low level; they do not boost above that level. Equal digital levels do not guarantee equal acoustic output because headphone fit, hardware, drivers and system balance settings affect the result. Compare the same channel repeatedly and swap headphone orientation if practical to distinguish fit from routing. Both mode sends equal-frequency signals to both selected outputs.
Limits and troubleshooting
This is a subjective routing and balance comparison, not an acoustic calibration or a hearing-health examination. Mono output settings or Bluetooth processing may combine channels. Physical volume depends on your device, so begin quietly and stop if uncomfortable. Tones start only after your action, end automatically after five seconds and stop on hidden tabs. No microphone access is requested.
Privacy and control
Device previews, recordings, selected files and report notes stay in your browser. Downloaded files remain on your device. Network tests send generated probes to GearCheck Lab. DNS lookup sends your requested public domain name and type to our server and the Cloudflare public resolver only after you start a query. Local recordings, drawings, files, device names and battery logs are not uploaded. Ordinary page requests and usage measurement are described in our privacy policy.
