How to use this tool

  1. Choose an audio file no larger than 20 MiB and three minutes.
  2. Start analysis after the browser loads its duration.
  3. Inspect decoded channel count, decoded rate and per-channel sample peaks.
  4. Play the local preview if useful, then clear it or leave the page.

Read the result correctly

The decoded sample rate belongs to the browser audio context; it is not proof of the original file’s encoded rate because decoding can resample. Channel count describes decoded audio, not the number of physical speakers on your device. Digital peak values show the largest absolute decoded samples. Near-full-scale samples are counted separately and do not alone establish audible distortion. The waveform is a compact overview; zooming this page does not create more source detail. Compare files under the same browser settings.

Limits and troubleshooting

Only browser-supported codecs can be decoded. File limits reduce memory use and do not establish file safety. Duration is checked before full decoding; unsupported metadata produces a clear error. Decoded samples and the local preview stay in this tab, and no file is submitted to a server. This is not a professional loudness, mastering, malware or file-authenticity assessment.

Privacy and control

Device previews, recordings, selected files and report notes stay in your browser. Downloaded files remain on your device. Network tests send generated probes to GearCheck Lab. DNS lookup sends your requested public domain name and type to our server and the Cloudflare public resolver only after you start a query. Local recordings, drawings, files, device names and battery logs are not uploaded. Ordinary page requests and usage measurement are described in our privacy policy.
