See which key combinations reach a focused browser test area. The page displays modifiers, the reported physical key code and the resulting key value without saving a key history outside this tab.

How to use this tool
Start capture and keep the outlined region focused.
Press a combination such as Ctrl plus a letter or Shift plus an arrow.
Read the received combination and repeat it with the same keyboard layout.
Use Escape to stop or Tab to leave capture, then compare the shortcut in the application you actually use.
Read the result correctly
A received combination establishes that a keydown event reached this page with the shown modifier state. Physical codes describe key positions, whereas the key value can reflect the layout or modifier combination. Repeated held-key events do not inflate the combination count. The local log keeps a short recent history so you can compare several attempts. This test prevents ordinary default actions only while capture has focus.
Limits and troubleshooting
The operating system and browser can reserve combinations, including window switching and some address-bar or security commands. A missing event is therefore not proof of a failed key. Escape and Tab intentionally control the capture instead of appearing as ordinary recorded shortcuts. This page is not a background keylogger and does not read passwords from other pages or apps. Stop capture before entering private text elsewhere.
Frequently asked question
Why does a shortcut do nothing here?
It may be reserved by the browser or operating system, or capture may not be focused. Compare ordinary keys first and test the shortcut in its intended application.
Privacy and control
Diagnostic data is processed locally in this tab and is not intentionally sent to analytics. Network tools send only their test probes and temporary payloads to GearCheck Lab’s speed-test server. Media and device access starts only after your explicit action and any required browser permission. Downloaded results stay on your device.
