How to use this tool

  1. Choose grey steps or muted colour blocks.
  2. Observe from a comfortable central position first.
  3. Move a little left, right, higher or lower while keeping the pattern unchanged.
  4. Return to centre and compare the same regions again.

Read the result correctly

Changes you see can reflect panel characteristics, reflections, room lighting or your position. The pattern is static so it does not introduce animation as another variable. It contains neighbouring tonal steps to make some changes easier to notice. The page does not track your head position or know the angle between your eyes and the panel. Notes such as “dark patch from the left” are observations, not a measured viewing-angle specification. Compare the same display mode before and after a setting change.

Limits and troubleshooting

This cannot identify panel technology, certify advertised viewing angles or measure colour accuracy. Different rooms and display coatings can produce different observations. A camera photograph adds its own exposure and lens effects. Optional fullscreen removes page distractions, and Escape exits normally. There is no automated flashing, no camera permission and no background tracking of your movements.

Privacy and control

Device previews, recordings, selected files and report notes stay in your browser. Downloaded files remain on your device. Network tests send generated probes to GearCheck Lab. DNS lookup sends your requested public domain name and type to our server and the Cloudflare public resolver only after you start a query. Local recordings, drawings, files, device names and battery logs are not uploaded. Ordinary page requests and usage measurement are described in our privacy policy.
