How to use this tool

  1. Start observation in a browser that supports the Battery Status API.
  2. Read whether the device reports charging or discharging.
  3. Keep the same workload and record changes in percentage over time.
  4. Stop and download the local observation log if useful.

Read the result correctly

Battery level is a browser-reported fraction displayed as a percentage, and devices may update it in coarse steps. The difference between the first and last readings is a percentage-point change, not an energy measurement. Charging changes are recorded rather than treated as uninterrupted discharge. An estimated remaining time, when supplied, is labelled as the device’s estimate and can be unavailable. A short session with no percentage change is inconclusive rather than proof of perfect battery health.

Limits and troubleshooting

The Battery Status API is unavailable in many browsers and can be restricted for privacy. This tool cannot read battery wear, cycle count, design capacity, temperature or power draw. It does not run a heavy workload to force discharge. The observation stops after 30 minutes, on Stop or when the page is hidden. Logs remain in this tab until downloaded or cleared; no battery information is submitted to a server.

Privacy and control

Device previews, recordings, selected files and report notes stay in your browser. Downloaded files remain on your device. Network tests send generated probes to GearCheck Lab. DNS lookup sends your requested public domain name and type to our server and the Cloudflare public resolver only after you start a query. Local recordings, drawings, files, device names and battery logs are not uploaded. Ordinary page requests and usage measurement are described in our privacy policy.
