How to use this tool
- Start the camera and allow access if you choose.
- Keep the tab visible during the 30-second session.
- Move a hand occasionally to inspect the preview yourself.
- Review delivered callbacks, longest gap and gaps over one second.
Observe frame delivery during a 30-second webcam session. The monitor measures callbacks, so a stationary scene is not automatically counted as a freeze.

A frame callback indicates a frame was submitted for composition by this browser. The tool counts callback intervals and flags gaps longer than one second after the first frame. This threshold is a troubleshooting marker, not a camera certification. A still image can continue arriving as valid frames, and repeated frames from a driver may not be detected. The first-frame startup delay is excluded from the gap summary. Repeat under the same lighting because low-light exposure can reduce camera cadence.
The page needs requestVideoFrameCallback support for this measurement. Rendering pressure and browser scheduling can delay callbacks even if the camera is healthy. Unsupported measurement is reported explicitly. Stop, session completion and hiding the tab release the camera. No video is recorded or uploaded.
Device previews, recordings, selected files and report notes stay in your browser. Downloaded files remain on your device. The call check sends small HTTP probes to GearCheck Lab. The WebRTC test exchanges temporary connection descriptions through our server and contacts the disclosed STUN service only after you create or join a session. Ordinary page requests and usage measurement are described in our privacy policy.
